An Unmistakably Queer Love Story

They met on a Tuesday that was trying very hard to be unremarkable. Jordan was explaining, with too much conviction, why a particular shade of yellow was "historically inaccurate" for a 1940s diner. River was the one who had painted it.

They argued for forty minutes. River bought Jordan a coffee to apologize. Jordan drank it even though they don't drink coffee. By the time River noticed — Jordan had ordered a second one.

What followed: four years of building a life that looks nothing like what either of them imagined and exactly like what both of them needed. Apartments, arguments, road trips with bad playlists, a dog named Criterion, and a love that grew louder the more the world told it to be quiet.

This love always deserved a marquee. Now it has one.
